Judas Thaddeus, otherwise known as Lebbeus,j “not Iscariot,” as the recorder is careful to particularize, was puzzled over the untraditional and un-Jewish thought of a Messiah who would be known but to the chosen few and not to Israel at large; and he asked: “Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?” Jesus explained that His and the Father’s companionship was attainable only by the faithful.
